Healthy, natural, and beautiful embody the ideals that describe the practice of Dr. Van Hala, a general dentist. With a focus on regenerative medicine, facial esthetics, and complex multi-disciplinary cases involving implants, Dr. Van Hala treats each patient with an integrative or whole-body approach. Favoring biologic options, his philosophy of care begins with understanding his patients' goals and paying careful attention to details, as he takes exceptional pride in helping people maintain or improve health and love their smiles!
Dr. Van Hala delights in serving patients; however, dentistry is not where he began his professional life. With curiosity, desire for adventure, and a passport in hand, he pursued a career in international business. For five years, he traveled, worked and lived abroad in Southeast Asia, Europe, China, and throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa. This portion of his early career resulted in many memorable experiences, lasting relationships, and appreciation for different ways of life.
While living in Africa, he and his wife Amy gained a first-hand appreciation for rich and exuberant cultures, but also observed unspeakable, human brutality. During this time, Dr. Van Hala's love and appreciation for home grew. Shaped by their experiences abroad, and intent upon a desire to improve the lives of people in tangible ways, they determined caring for peoples' smiles--was a perfect pursuit.
Dr. Van Hala's journey to dentistry first began with a B.A. in International Studies from Miami University in 1997 and studies at the Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg. He was then accepted to the London School of Economics, but opted to pursue a career in dentistry. He then attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
Dedicated to lifelong learning, he continues his education and post-doctoral training in the fields of cosmetic dentistry, lasers, implants, occlusion, as well as in bioesthetics, and regenerative medicine. Regularly, he studies and completes over 100 hours of CE annually. Dr. Van Hala remains on the forefront of dental innovation, 3-D CBCT technology and printing, and intraoral scanning. He is a proud alumni of both the prestigious Dawson Academy and the Midwest Implant Institute. His practice has been heavily influenced by his biologic training at the Center for Ceramic Implants in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. Currently, he is a member of AAOSH, AACD, ADA/ODA, ADS, CMDA, and the IAOMT and among the earliest members of CARE Esthetics.
When Dr. Van Hala is not working, he especially enjoys sports. Playing soccer, golf and skiing are among his favorite pastimes. During summers, a picnic on the lawn at Blossom, (a local and outdoor amphitheater), listening to the Cleveland Orchestra is a highlight as well. Likewise, exploring National Parks and other travels with Amy and their four children have become invaluable in beholding the beauty and appreciating the diversity of our world. More regularly, Dr. Van Hala and his wife enjoy cooking creatively and entertaining friends and family in their home. Locally, Dr. Van Hala and his family are members of Parkside Church and supporters of Truth for Life. Dedicated to the joy of giving, Dr. Van Hala and his team remain committed to helping improve peoples' lives at home, and abroad--one smile at a time.
